Centers for Community and Academic Research Partners (CCARP)

Centers for Community and Academic Research Partners (CCARP) aims to disseminate to Mount Sinai investigators the importance and benefits of community-involved and health disparities research, to facilitate this research, and translate the results back to communities studied. Particular emphases are placed on fostering careers of underrepresented minority researchers and using secondary data sources to target salient issues. The Center also aims to help community leaders shape research, be equal and effective partners, and work with the Mount Sinai research enterprise in transforming research operations to more sensitively and productively engage communities in research. The activities at Mount Sinai and in the communities it serves are to be carried out at a smaller scale at Elmhurst Hospital and the Queens communities it serves, known as the most racially and ethnically diverse area in the nation.
