Headache: Do Narcotics and Marijuana Have a Place in Treatment?
Is there a role for opioids or marijuana for treating migraine and other primary headache disorders? “The use of narcotics in the treatment of migraines has been very disappointing,” said Mark Green, MD, Professor of Neurology, Headache Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Rehabilitation Medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital. “Part of the reason for that is the fundamental differences in chemistry of head pain compared to visceral pain.”
