Q: Why do I get mail-relay denied when sending e-mail?
A:You need to set your SMTP Server (Outgoing Mail) to smtp.mssm.edu.
 
Q:What do I need to get my computer on the network?
A:You need a network card, network cable and a valid IMail e-mail account.
 
Q:Where can I get a network card and network cable?
A:Network Cards can be purchased for $54, payable by check only. Only 3COM network cards will be support by Medical School Computing and the Help Desk. Cables can be picked up at the front desk of Aron Hall or from Medical School Computing.
 
Q:Can I use a network card not manufactured by 3COM?
A:Yes, however it will not be supported by Medical School Computing. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of this card.
 
Q:If I have a network card in my computer, how do I configure my computer to work in Aron Hall?
A:Follow instructions for DHCP.
 
Q:I registered successfully but my modem is still dialing when I click on a web browser?
A:Go to Start, Setting, Control Panel, and select the Internet Options control panel. Select the connection tab, click on Never Dial.
 
Q:I do not have a IMail account, how do I get one?
A:Call (212) 241-7091 to have an account created for you. You must have Life Number to have an account created.
 
Q:When I attempt to register I get an error page that says "No lease found", how can I stop this from happening?
A:The likely cause of this is that your computer is still using dial-up to connect to the network. Go to Start, Setting, Control Panel, and select the Internet Options control panel. Select the connection tab, click on Never Dial.
 
Q:When I attempt to register I get an error page that says "You are not in my allowable domain", how do I proceed?
A:If you receive this error, please call the Help Desk at (212) 241-7091.
 
Q:When I attempt to register I get an error page that says "Bad username or password", what causes this?
A:Make sure that you are using the same login name and password you use for your IMail e-mail. Also note that this system is case sensitive. If you still have a problem, please call the Help Desk at (212) 241-7091.
