Diversity in Biomedical Research Council

In 2008, the Dean established the Diversity in Biomedical Research Committee (DBRC), a standing committee of the Dean’s Office, charged with development of policy and specific activities focused on diversity in the Basic Sciences and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.  In 2014, the DBRC was restructured as a “Council” of campus leaders in diversity including Women in Science and Medicine, Students for Equal Opportunity in Science, LGBT, and Disabilities, focused on improving connections among the various pipeline programs, enhanced recruitment and retention, and increasing awareness of specific funding to promote diversity through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Diversity Supplements. All of these measures address the Mount Sinai global mission toward making advancements in Health Disparities Research.
