Clinical Competency Assessment Program
Our faculty members are board certified anesthesiologists and have conducted competency assessments for private medical institutions, state medical licensing bodies, independent assessment entities, and self-referred independent physicians. Using multimodality simulation including high-fidelity mannequin based simulators, virtual reality equipment, and standardized patients and OR personnel, participants are evaluated in terms of the six core competencies as identified by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). The six domains of competences include; patient care, medical knowledge, systems-based practice, practice based learning and improvement, professionalism and interpersonal skills and communication. Other domains of competence that can be evaluated in our program include clinical judgment, technical skills, team leadership skills, documentation and record keeping.
Each assessment is individually designed and conducted with respect and privacy. If you or your institution is in need of a simulation-based competence assessment please contact us and we would be happy to discuss our assessment program in further detail.

HELPS Center Retraining and Competency Assessment Testimonials
"I performed my first cases last week... It was amazing! Thanks to you, Ethan and Sam. Overall, the experience was confidence building and positive. By the way, God does have a sense of irony. My FIRST case was an unanticipated difficult intubation. I had to use the MacGrath and had no trouble at all. So, first one out of the box after two and one half years and it was not easy. Sure glad to have that out of the way!
Best wishes to all."

Thank you again for all your assistance in completing the competency assessment. It was truly a worthwhile experience and I feel much more secure about my anesthesia skills; I can't wait to get back to work! Please give my regards to Ethan and Sam. They were terrific teachers.

"Adam. I cannot thank you, Ethan and Sam enough for the training that I received at Mt. Sinai. I sincerely believe that you instilled the confidence in me that I needed to resume my career. I am putting kids to sleep in a supervised setting but I really feel limited apprehension even with young babies. Thanks so much."
