The Mount Sinai Medical Center Will Participate in the Aspen Ideas Festival

Kenneth L. Davis, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Mount Sinai Medical Center, will speak on the future of medicine at the Aspen Ideas Festival to be held in Aspen, Colorado from Wednesday, June 26 through Tuesday, July 2.

Mount Sinai is the first medical center to sponsor the Festival, now in its ninth year. The Festival gathers transformational thinkers and leaders from the United States and around the world to discuss their work, the issues that inspire them, and their ideas. Presented by the Aspen Institute and The Atlantic magazine, the Festival is unique in its dedication to dialogue and exchange, and in its commitment to bringing ideas to the public at large.

"Mount Sinai is innovating models in coordinated patient care, advancing research on the most debilitating diseases, and educating tomorrow's physicians to be leaders in the new health care reform environment," said Dr. Davis. "We are excited to be a part of the Aspen Ideas Festival where great ideas are advanced."

Walter Isaacson, President and CEO of the Aspen Institute, thanks Dr. Davis and Mount Sinai for their participation. Two Drawings for Whole-Genome-Sequencing Experiences will take place at 5 pm on Saturday, June 29 and Monday, July 1 at the Mount Sinai Health Hub in the Kresge Building. The sequencing experiences will take place at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

“Demystifying Personal Genomics” talks daily at 4 pm Thursday, June 27 through Monday, July 1: Joel T. Dudley, PhD, Director of Biomedical Informatics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, will lead a daily conversation on personalized medicine. Dr. Dudley is co-author of the new textbook, Exploring Personal Genomics (Oxford University Press, March 2013), [link, www.exploringpersonalgenomics.org.] Dr. Dudley had his own genome sequenced and will discuss his experience and what to expect.

Complimentary Melanoma Screenings: A team of Mount Sinai dermatologists will be on-site to provide melanoma screenings from 8 am to 4 pm daily in the Hines Foyer of the Kresge Building at the Aspen Meadows.
