The Samuel Bronfman Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Derek Leroith, MD, PhD, will receive the Gerald D. Aurbach Award Lecture

The Samuel Bronfman Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Derek Leroith, MD, PhD, Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease and Director of the Metabolism Institute, will receive the Gerald D. Aurbach Award Lecture. This award is presented annually to those that have made outstanding research contributions in endocrinology. Dr. Leroith is widely recognized for his research on the roles of IGF-1 and insulin and their family of receptors.

The Laureate Awards were established in 1944 to recognize the highest achievements in endocrinology including: science, leadership, teaching and service. Dr. Leroith will be honored in June at the Endocrine Society's Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts. His recent work has helped explain the heightened susceptibility to a wide range of cancers in individuals with obesity and type 2 diabetes.
