Division Overview

With Elizabeth Garland, M.D. as Division Director, the Division of Preventive Medicine’s mission is to prevent chronic and infectious disease and promote healthy lifestyles in the community that the Mount Sinai Health System serves. Division faculty are involved in many service oriented community projects, community coalitions, outreach and health services research in East Harlem.

The division houses the ACGME accredited two-year General Preventive Medicine Residency Program. The Preventive Medicine faculty direct and participate in the MSSM Ambulatory Care Clerkship for third year medical students and directs and hold leadership roles in the MSSM Masters in Public Health Program.
