Division of Social Work and Behavioral Science

Education

The Division of Social Work and Behavioral Science is actively involved in Icahn School of Medicine educational programs. The faculty regularly teach in the Community and Preventive Medicine Clerkship (Primary Care), which they have been actively involved in developing. In addition faculty teach in the Division's elective program for first- and second-year medical students, which remains among the most popular electives offered.

The Division faculty participated in developing and implementing the new first- and second-year medical student course, the "Art and Science of Medicine."

The faculty is involved in social work and behavioral science education at several levels: conducting courses; leading and participating in lectures and seminars at other health profession school sites; providing field site for professional education; serving on school advisory and curriculum planning committees; and acting as visiting professors in other universities.
