CHAMPions (CHAMP In Our NeighborhoodS)

Funded by NIMH, this intervention research study examines the factors that influence urban parents' willingness to collaborate in the delivery of a school-based intervention designed to enhance mental health and reduce risk behavior among inner-city minority youth. In addition, the impact of an evidence-based program for youth – "Be Proud! Be Responsible!" – is being examined. This initiative is an eight-module intervention meant to enhance youth sense of competence and skill in navigating urban risks. Currently, the intervention is conducted within school and community sites by trained community facilitators.
