Master of Public Health

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai prepares our students to prevent disease, protect the environment, and promote good health in partnership with the populations they serve. Through interdisciplinary research and innovation, policy analysis, and advocacy, you will translate knowledge into practice to serve local, national, and global communities. Our MPH graduates serve in a variety of roles within many diverse settings, including public health practice, government agencies, industry, academia, the non-profit sector, and private practice.

The MPH program is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Our 45-credit, two-year competency-based program requires coursework in one of eight concentration, a 150-hour applied practice experience, and a culminating experience (e.g. master's thesis, manuscript, or capstone project). The concentration let you tailor your coursework to the subject matter that most interests you and aligns with your career goals. You can choose from seven areas of specialization or choose the General Public Health concentration.

“My pursuit of an MPH has been a life-changing journey that has enriched my comprehension of global health and inequalities. As an Indian physician, the convergence of public health and medicine seemed like an unattainable aspiration, but my association with the renowned Mount Sinai community has turned my dreams into reality.”
