Curriculum
Mentored research constitutes the major time commitment of the PREP scholar
- All PREP scholars must take the fall course in Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course unless they qualify for exemption
- All PREP scholars who may benefit from an enrichment course in Biochemistry before fall classes, are invited to participate in the Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) for 6 weeks during the summer of their PREP entry
- All PREP scholars participate in monthly PREP works-in-progress series, led by PhD and MD/PhD students who are PREP alumni, in the first year; those who pursue a second PREP year alternate between works-in-progress and a special postdoc-led Journal Club
- All PREP scholars are invited to attend Grand Rounds of the Center for Multi-Cultural and Community Affairs (CMCA) and to participate in CMCA-sponsored projects
Fall course options include:
- Molecules and Cells (1 semester survey course in the Medical School curriculum, offered to PREP scholars for a grade with an extra research paper)
- Biomedical Science I (PhD course) and accompanying Introduction to Journal Club
- Selected courses in the Master’s of Public Health curriculum
- Biostatistics
- Introduction to Neurosciences
Spring course options include:
- Biomedical Science II
- Microbiology
- Selected courses in the Master’s of Public Health curriculum
