Overview

Environment

Patient-oriented research has always been an important focus at Icahn School of Medicine. Interaction between basic and clinical faculty members was established early, and as the faculty increased in size, the School developed the infrastructure to facilitate scientific exchange.

The Mount Sinai campus offers:

  • A research environment with generous space for basic science, clinical research, and translational research
  • A wide variety of core facilities that support the integration of basic science and clinical research
  • Institutional resources to promote the close interactions among clinicians, research faculty, and students, which are critical for the creation of interactive, collaborative projects
  • A dedicated faculty to mentor students

The availability of these support systems engenders an environment best able to provide students with a solid foundation in the art and science of clinical research.
