Directions to The Morchand Center from within the Hospital

Enter the hospital from Madison Avenue just south of 101st Street. The address is 1468 Madison Avenue. At this location, a large, blue, vertical “Mount Sinai Health System” sign is on the sidewalk in front of a large revolving door. Proceed through the revolving door and inform the guard that you are expected at The Morchand Center.

Walk up the stairs behind the guard; you will enter a large, open atrium lobby. To your left are large, open glass doors that lead to the Annenberg Pavillion. Enter through the doors and proceed to the elevator bank farthest to your right. These elevators will take you to the 13th Floor. Once you arrive on the 13th Floor, step out of the elevator and either to your left or to your right will be The Morchand Center. Our name is both on the welcome mat outside our Center and above the doors.

What are Standardized Patients?

At The Morchand Center Standardized Patients, or SPs, are experienced, professional actors who are specially trained to simulate the signs and symptoms of an illness, in simulated doctor-patient encounters, and to provide feedback to medical learners. Actors pass a rigorous audition process to become SPs at The Morchand Center. In addition to being trained to assess medical learners, SPs are routinely assessed themselves to assure they are delivering consistent, accurate and standardized portrayals, and reliable ratings of trainees.
