The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) has an exceptional roster of students, trainees, staff, and faculty, counting some of the best and brightest minds in science and medicine among our ranks. Along with our medical and research professionals, we recruit and attract mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, venture capitalists, and leaders in human rights, social justice, and global health. Together, they are changing the very landscape of health care.
Our students benefit from a tremendous base of talent and expertise. In turn, they themselves never fail to impress. They come to us not only eager to learn but also to teach each other. ISMMS receives thousands of applications every year for 140 spots, so each class is comprised of a diverse and talented group of students.
While students see each other as competition in many educational institutions, at ISMMS our pass/fail system for first- and second-year MD students, along with our collaborative approach in all our programs, fosters a spirit of camaraderie. Here, you will view your peers as part of your greatest support system.
There is no doubt that the School’s equal commitments to quality education, patient care, research, and community service—our focus on science in service of society—has a great deal to do with the exceptional people we attract and retain. We want you to learn from the best, from faculty, from staff, and from your fellow students. This is what you will experience in the ISMMS community.
