Dr. Salzberg specializes in both cosmetic and breast surgery, including breast reconstruction. Practicing since 1987, he is best known as the pioneer of Direct to Implant or “one-step” breast reconstruction which replaces the traditional Tissue Expander Method. Dr. Salzberg’s first Direct to Implant procedure was in 2001; since then, he has reconstructed more than 1,100 breasts on more than 650 patients as part of breast cancer treatment or prevention for women at high risk of breast cancer due to a BRCA mutation or family history. His experience with using Alloderm or Strattice tissue matrix as implant support allows him to overcome some of the most challenging cases such as bottoming out, rippling or wrinkling and fold malposition. Dr. Salzberg is also internationally recognized in Fat Transfer for Revision Breast Reconstruction along with NaturalFill Breast Augmentation.
He graduated from the University of Florida School of Medicine, where he earned a Medical Doctorate in 1981. Dr. Salzberg completed a residency in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel (then known as Beth Israel Medical Center, 1981-87) and a Plastic Surgery residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital (1984-87).
