Biography

    Colleen S. Lynch, MD is a National Research Service Award (NRSA) Primary Care Research Fellow within the Division of General Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her current research focus is the evaluation of novel primary care models for high risk and vulnerable patients, coupling patterns and HIV risk in Sub Sahran Africa, and linkage to care and treatment for patients with Hepatitis C. As part of her fellowship, she sees patients and teaches residents within the Internal Medicine Associates clinic at Mount Sinai. She is a Masters in Public Health degree candidate with a focus in outcomes research and biostatisitcs through the Mount Sinai School Of Medicine in May of 2015. Colleen completed her undergraduate education Magna Cum Laude with a BA in History and Biology at Georgetown University, before receiving her Medical Degree at the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and Primary Care in 2012 at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and subsequently stayed within the Hospital Medicine Division at that institution for the academic year 2012-2013 as a Clinical Instructor. Colleen has long been interested in the health of vulnerable populations both within the US and globally. She has done clinical work and research with a focus on medical education and preventive care within marginalized communities in the urban centers of New York, San Francisco, Kisumu, Kenya, and Cape Town, South Africa, and in rural communities in Malawi and Puerto Rico. She is a board member with the NGO Doctors for Global Health, and spent 6 months doing community education in rural El Salvador with that group in 2012-2013. She is fluent in Spanish, is proficient in microsoft excel, atlas.ti for qualitative analysis, and SAS statistical analysis software.

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs.
