Daniel S. Safin MD is an Attending in the Division of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel where he is the Physician-In-Charge of the Psychiatry Consultation Service and Medical Student Education in Psychosomatic Medicine. He is also Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Safin provides clinical care to patients along with teaching of Psychosomatic Medicine Fellows, Psychiatry Residents and Medical Students. His time is split between the inpatient Consultation-Liaison Service and a Faculty Practice. Dr. Safin graduated from the University of Rochester and then obtained his MD from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He did a Social Medicine internship at Montefiore Medical Center, followed by a residency in Psychiatry and Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. Dr. Safin is Board Certified in Psychiatry as well as Psychosomatic Medicine. Dr. Safin is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Safin is currently President-Elect of the New York County Psychiatric Society of the American Psychiatric Association, having served on the council for 7 years in various roles, including treasurer. Dr. Safin is also a member of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and the Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists. Dr. Safin’s research interests include Psychosomatic Medicine in the areas of HIV/AIDS Psychiatry and Cardiac Disease, as well as Clinical Education.
