Dr. David Lam graduated from The University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Following medical school, he completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and then moved to New York City and completed his clinical fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Bone Diseases at Mount Sinai.
During his fellowship training he developed areas of interest in improving the treatment of the diabetic emergency, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and the metabolic changes associated with obesity before and after bariatric surgery. With funding support from the Department of Medicine Advancing Clinical Excellence in Medicine training grant, he was the principal investigator in developing a multi-disciplinary DKA care pathway for patients admitted to Mount Sinai. In joining the Mount Sinai School of Medicine as a clinical instructor, he is excited to continue pursuing research in these areas.
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their relationships with such companies.
Dr. Lam did not report having any of the following types of financial relationships with industry during 2012 and/or 2013: consulting, scientific advisory board, industry-sponsored lectures, service on Board of Directors, participation on industry-sponsored committees, equity ownership valued at greater than 5% of a publicly traded company or any value in a privately held company. Please note that this information may differ from information posted on corporate sites due to timing or classification differences.
