Cancer Epidemiology

My research interest and expertise is in the area of cancer epidemiology. I have published widely on environmental carcinogens, cancer and nutrition, and genetic susceptibility to cancer. I am internationally known for my       work in cancer prevention which includes the study of cancer risk factors in healthy populations, cancer predisposing factors, hormone metabolism and genetic susceptibility to environmental exposure; cancer survivorship   and the effect of lifestyles changes on the risk for cancer recurrence and the development of new secondary cancers; health disparity, access to care in minorities, and chronic diseases prevention in the underserved. I am the Director of the Center for the Study of Thoracic Diseases Outcomes and in that capacity I work closely with surgeons, radiologists and immunologists on lung cancer early detection and treatment studies.
