Biography

    Dr. Nezhat is the current President of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and is a full-time faculty member of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Director of Gynecologic Minimally Invasive Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Nezhat is a pioneering leader in the application of minimal access surgery to pelvic gynecologic pathologies. He is nationally and internationally known for his research, teaching, and clinical contributions to the field of gynecologic and pelvic surgery. He serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and is co-author of two textbooks that detail his techniques, Operative Gynecologic Laparoscopy Principles and Techniques and Endometriosis: Advanced Management and Surgical Techniques. Dr. Nezhat has written more than 100 scientific articles and more than 40 chapters primarily related to advanced operative laparoscopy.

Industry Relationships

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their relationships with such companies.
