- Dr. Weerahandi is a general internist who is currently a NRSA/HRSA T32 Primary Care Research Scholar in the Division of General Internal Medicine. She graduated from Temple University School of Medicine, and completed her Internal Medicine-Primary Care residency at NYU School of Medicine. She subsequently completed a Preventive Medicine Residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and also obtained a Masters in Public Health degree. Her research interests include resource utilization and coordinated care for high needs patients.
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their relationships with such companies.
