- Dr. Rose’s expertise includes areas of pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine and medical education. Dr. Rose manages complicated patients in both the medical and surgical intensive care units, and also sees patients on the pulmonary consultation service as well as in his outpatient office on West 60th Street. His areas of interest include the use of advanced techniques in ultrasound and the use of simulation in medical education, particularly at the Center for Advanced Simulation (CAMS). In addition to designing and running various clinical scenarios to train physicians and nurses at CAMS, he also serves as the Associate and the Co-Director of the Simulation Fellowship Training Program that trains fellows in advanced medical simulation techniques. Several of the training projects in CAMS have also led to interesting research projects in medical education, such as medical code training and efficacy of proper sterile technique training.

ResearchDr. Rose is actively involved in several areas of research. He has extensively used ultrasound to image the diaphragm muscle in intubated ICU patients to evaluate for atrophy. This has led to several other areas of potential study. He has also developed expertise in death certificates, particularly with identifying sources of potential errors. He is currently working on a joint project with the New York City Department of Health to improve training of house staff on proper death certificate completion to both improve accuracy of the certificates and enhance the overall process.
