Biography
Dr. Kerin Adelson is a medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer medicine. Her clinical practice is dedicated to treating all aspects of breast cancer including: breast cancer prevention in women at high risk for breast cancer, management of ductal carcinoma in situ, adjuvant (post-operative treatment) and neo-adjuvant (pre-operative) treatment of invasive breast cancer, and management of advanced stage disease. While focused on giving state-of-the art breast cancer care, Dr. Adelson is also very sensitive to the intense psychological stress her patients experience with a breast cancer diagnosis.
Dr. Adelson’s research is focused on overcoming
biologic mechanisms of resistance to hormonal modulation. She is the principal investigator of
the multi-site NCI 8457, A randomized phase II study of fulvestrant vs.
fulvestrant plus bortezomib in metastatic ER+ breast cancer. The rationale for this study came from
the work of Dr. Doris Germain, a basic scientist at Mt. Sinai with whom she
closely collaborates.
Clinical Trials:
