We work with Wnt pathway that is important in developmental processes and stem cell regulation in healthy organisms. The list of Wnt pathway targets includes cellular growth controling genes (e.g. cyclinD1), genes for invasion (like metalloproteinases) and angiogenesis (for example vascular endothelial growth factor) sustaining genes. The presence of such diverse set of genes among the targets shows that Wnt pathway is involved not only in the cellular growth regulation. Wnts participate also in the tumor invasion control and the tumor blood vessel formation. We study Wnt-dependent regulation of these mortality causing processes in a major disease - colon cancer.
