ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR | Environmental Medicine & Public Health
I am an experienced public health researcher and educator with a focus on social determinants of health and health literacy. Throughout my research career, I have focused on understanding how social mechanisms drive health inequalities. I have worked on several research and training projects in public health to become well-versed in the field and examined different perspectives on the social ecology of health. I am well trained in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies and have worked on projects that range from applied public health programs to academic research centers. My studies in epidemiology and biostatistics allow me to further explore public health issues with additional analytical expertise. In addition to my teaching role at Mount Sinai, I plan to pursue research opportunities that allow me to continue to delve into health inequalities, while utilizing my knowledge and skill set in health literacy and communication.

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
