Biography
- Dr. Philip Melchiorre serves as the Medical Director of the General Rehabilitation Unit. He graduated from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ in 1989. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York University/Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine in 1993 and he completed a one year research fellowship at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ in 1994. He became board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1994.
His clinical interests involve the rehabilitation of patients with polyneuropathies (GBS, CIDP, critical illness polyneuropathy), rheumatologic conditions (including joint replacements), strokes, and amputations. His goal is to help patients achieve their maximum functional status (walking and activities of daily living) and minimize their pain.
Dr. Melchiorre has published several journal articles and book reviews on a variety of rehabilitation topics.
