Biography

    Dr. Shanna Kowalsky began her undergraduate education at Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science in cellular and molecular biology. She received her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and went on to complete her Pediatrics residency at Miami Children’s Hospital in Florida. In 2013, she completed her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) and joined the Department of Pediatrics as a clinical instructor in Mount Sinai’s Newborn Nursery and as a Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist at Elmhurst Hospital Center.

    In addition to caring for newborns, Dr. Kowalsky focuses much of her time caring for patients with perinatally acquired HIV/AIDS and treating infections in the returning traveler. She is also interested in congenital infections, transplant ID and antimicrobial stewardship.
