Description
The purpose of this study is to compare three different doses of morphine, injected into the caudal-epidural space (an area at the bottom of the work) at preventing pain after surgery without causing side effects such as itching, vomiting, or slow breathing. Previous studies in children having other types of surgery showed that giving morphine this way gives better pain relief and causes fewer side effects than giving the drug intravenously (into a vein). We are trying to find out which dose of morphine given that way results in the best pain relief without increasing the side effects.
