Description
The primary goal of the proposed studies is to conduct a single blind, multiple dose escalation study to determine multiple dose safety, short-term tolerability and pharmacokinetics in subjects with Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Aim 1: To assess multiple dose safety of 1500 mg, 3000 and 5000 mg of d-pinitol in AD patients.Aim 2: To assess the pharmacokinetics of 1500 mg, 3000 and 5000 mg of d-pinitol in AD patients.Secondary aims:Aim 3: To assess cognitive effects of 1500 mg, 3000 and 5000 mg of d-pinitol in patients with AD.Aim 4: To assess the effects of 1500 mg, 3000 and 5000 mg of doses of d-pinitol on plasma A beta in patients with AD.
