This study examines biological and psychological correlates associated with risk, symptom severity, and recovery in veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder. We will assess several biological and psychological variables in those veterans who do or do not show recovery in response to 10 weekly sessions of a manualized, cognitive behavioral therapy, Prolonged Exposure, compared to those in a manualized intervention consisting of weekly scheduled telephone contacts with a clinical psychologist. This will allow us to identify biological markers and their relationship to symptom change.
