Rehabilitation Medicine
Description
This observational, multi-center study examines factors impacting outcomes in the first year after acute rehabilitation for traumatic brain injury (TBI). Follow-up interviews are conducted by telephone at approximately 3 months post-rehabilitation discharge and 12 months post-injury to assess medical, functional, psychological and social status, as well as participants’ use of rehabilitation, health and other services. Interview data will be analyzed with data describing the inpatient rehabilitation process to assess the impact of patient characteristics and rehabilitation interventions on outcomes following TBI. Findings from this study will enhance our understanding of trajectories of recovery after TBI and will identify interventions associated with positive post-injury outcomes.
