Description

The safety and performance of the WATCHMAN® Left Atrial Appendage System has been under investigation in a clinical study in Europe since August 2002 and in the U.S. since October 2003. The purpose of the study has been to evaluate the safety of the WATCHMAN device. The purpose of this research study is to learn whether the WATCHMAN device can be safely implanted, and to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the device compared to subjects who receive the blood thinning medication called warfarin (or Coumadin®).
