Description

The purpose of this study is to learn whether a drug called Perampanel can help with essential tremor and is safe for people to take. Essential Tremor is a condition in which the hands shake when they are being used to hold things. Other parts of the body such as the head and voice may also shake. Perampanel has not been tested for the ability to help control tremor in people with essential tremor before. It is currently approved by the FDA for the treatment of seizure disorder and not for essential tremor. There is reason to believe that, by blocking a particular brain site, perampanel can help control tremor. Participation in this study involves a validated TRG Essential Tremor Rating Assessment including video taping of tremors, quality of life questionnaires, routine blood tests, electrocardiogram, and physical during each office visit. Participation also involves phone call follow ups every 2 weeks.
