Description

The purpose of this study is to better understand the brain changes in patients with spasmodic dysphonia (SD) and voice tremor (VT) and how these brain changes can be improved when given sodium oxybate Xyrem. SD and VT are both neurological disorders that affect voice production. Sodium oxybate is approved for the treatment of excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy. The use of sodium oxybate in this study is investigational because it is not approved for treatment of SD and VT. Participation in this research study includes administration of the study drug and 1-4 MRI sessions. For more information call 212-241-8729 or email dystonia.research@gmail.com.
