Neuroscience Annual Retreat
The Friedman Brain Institute hosts a Neuroscience Retreat held in the spring of each year. Neuroscience is multidisciplinary by nature and, reflecting this, the scientists and physicians that contribute to the neurosciences at Mount Sinai hail from a variety of departments and campuses. The Retreat provides an opportunity for everyone in the Neuroscience community at Mount Sinai—faculty, fellows, students, researchers and clinicians—to meet and discuss their work in order to increase awareness of ongoing research and approaches, to foster new interactions, and to generate novel ideas.
The one-day Retreat comprises a keynote lecture, seminars given by selected students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty, a poster session with an awards ceremony for the best posters, and informal sessions that provide ample opportunities for collegial interaction and discussion.
The Neuroscience Annual Retreat 2013
The 5th Annual Neuroscience Retreat is on Friday, April 26, 2013. The event will take place at The New York Academy of Medicine. Please mark your calendar!
We are proud to announce that Dr. Daniela Schiller will be our keynote speaker. Dr. Schiller is a neuroscientist investigating the neural mechanisms of emotional control and flexibility in the human brain. A major focus of her work has been to identify in humans a stage of memory, termed reconsolidation, in which old memories become labile upon retrieval, thus providing a window of opportunity to target traumatic memories. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience.
In addition to Dr. Schiller, we will have two other guest speakers: Geoffrey W. Smith, the founding Director of the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (C-TIE) at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Lauren Friedman, the President of Sinai Neuroscience Outreach Program “SNOP”.
Registration is required. The registration website is: http://neuroscience.mssm.edu/retreat/
