Chill Down to Slim Down: How Cold Weather Helps Your Body Burn Fat

 – January 23, 2014  ––

A new study finds lowering the thermostat by a few degrees may help burn fat. Christopher Ochner, PhD, an obesity specialist at The Mount Sinai Hospital, talked to the "CBS This Morning" co-hosts about the report. “We’re burning calories all the time.  In fact, most of our calories are burned at rest,” said Dr. Ochner.  “We know that when we get cold, we shiver – and that actually raises your metabolic rate and the calories you burn just sitting there.”
