Center for Training and Education
The Mission
The Center for Training and Education (CTE) commits to developing and implementing mentoring and educational programs for researchers, trainees, and community partners. It is our mission to help them gain skills as effective, innovative investigators and partners and to promote community-involved research activities that address health inequities in the Harlem and Queens communities.
The Vision
By training and mentoring investigators at Icahn School of Medicine and in the Queens Health Network, CCARP seeks to enhance The Mount Sinai Centers for Clinical and Translational Sciences' capacity to conduct translational and community-related research. This vision also would entail conducting community-involved research and fostering partnerships with community members and leaders who will be intellectual partners and potential participants in research.
In collaboration with the CCARP Partnership Board, the Data Resource Center, Community Engagement Center, and Icahn School of Medicine Center for Multicultural and Community Affairs, our effort will be to increase the diversity of the research workforce. This effort will include fostering the recruitment and mentoring of underrepresented minority (URM) faculty and trainees and encourage their development as independent clinical and translational researchers with the capacity to be successful partners in community-based research.
