The Tisch Cancer Institute Biorepository (CIB) is currently partnering with individual disease groups to collect biospecimens under a common protocol available for use within the Tisch Cancer Institute. The key disease groups are:
- Prostate and genitourinary (GU) cancers
- Head and Neck cancers
- Hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal cancers
- Hematological malignancies
- Breast cancers
- Lung cancers
- Neurological cancers
Future expansion to all other disease groups is planned.
Specimens are collected from all consented patients during their standard of care visit at the Tisch cancer Institute. Blood samples are processed for serum, plasma, and buffy coat, extraction and long-term storage.
The Chair of Pathology, Dr. Carlos Cardon-Cardo, oversees all tissue collection for clinical and research purposes at MSSM. The rich collaboration between the Department of Pathology and the CIB will ensure that high quality specimens are available for interested researchers.
