About Us
The glomerular visceral epithelial cell, also known as the podocyte, is an integral component of the glomerular filtration barrier in the kidney. Podocyte injury and loss contribute to the development of diabetic kidney disease. In the diabetic condition, activation of a forkhead box O transcription factor (Foxo) contributes to podocyte loss. Our objective is to elucidate the cellular mechanism of Foxo transcription factor activation in podocytes.
