Welcome to the Gallo Laboratory
Thank you for visiting the Gallo Laboratory website. Our lab is interested in using systems pharmacology approaches to improve chemotherapy for brain tumor patients. Systems pharmacology merges pharmacokinetic [PK] and pharmacodynamic [PD] methods with systems biology methods. Our lab has focused on tumor-based PK/PD for many years that is now evolving into systems pharmacology of cancer chemotherapy by using genomic and multiplexed protein measurements to characterize anticancer drugs in brain tumor models. We utilize in vitro and in vivo systems to obtain data on drug concentrations in cells and tissues and their corresponding PD responses. These rich datasets are cast into mechanistic PK/PD models to characterize drug action in tumors. Through this detailed understanding of the variables that influence drug disposition and dynamics in the tumor the most rational and effective drug treatment regimens can be designed and individualized in patients.
