Floyd Cardoz, who was the Executive Chef of Tabla, has been selected to compete on Bravo TV show, Top Chef Masters. Unlike the regular Top Chef shows, the Masters series has already well-known and distinguished chefs face off against each other competing for charity.

The season will start April 6th and Chef Cardoz will be playing for the charity of his choice, the Young Scientist Cancer Research Fund at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Dear Friend,

As you have shown incredible support for me and Tabla over the years, I wanted to share some very exciting news. At the end of the year, Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group will open a new fine dining restaurant in Battery Park City called North End Grill, and I am thrilled to announce that I will serve as its Executive Chef and Partner. North End Grill will be a new American eatery and bar featuring refined grill cooking with an emphasis on seafood. The restaurant will be located at the southeast corner of North End Avenue and Murray Street.

This is an amazing development following Tabla's recent closing in December. While Tabla will always have a very special place in my heart, I am now extremely excited about this next chapter in my career. Most especially, I cannot wait to get back in the kitchen and cook for you, our loyal guests.

This forthcoming opportunity will be a departure from what I've been cooking for the past 12 years. At North End Grill, I'll be exploring the joys of the grill, cooking simply prepared American food with ingredients that should remind you what day of the year it is. As we did at Madison Square Park, I am also thrilled to be able to contribute to the ongoing renaissance of the "Lower West Side," and truly hope that North End Grill becomes an enduring second home for its downtown community.

North End Grill will be designed by Bentel & Bentel, the celebrated architecture firm whose work has distinguished several of USHG's restaurants, including Tabla, Gramercy Tavern, Eleven Madison Park, Blue Smoke and The Modern. The restaurant will be joined by new outposts of our siblings, Blue Smoke and Shake Shack, which will also anchor the development on North End Avenue. With these new openings, we are energized by the opportunity to participate in the revitalization of Lower Manhattan, as well as blaze a new culinary path in the neighborhood.

On another fun note, I wanted to let you that I was selected to participate on the Bravo hit show, Top Chef Masters, which will begin airing on April 6. I'll be competing for a charity that is near and dear to my heart – Young Scientist Cancer Research Fund at Mount Sinai School of Medicine – and I hope you’ll have the opportunity to tune in!
