Medical Students Global Health Opportunities

There are many opportunities for Mount Sinai medical students to get involved in global health. For students committed to working with underserved communities, the Global Health Center (GHC) offers elective courses, seminars and workshops in current global health topics, and provides mentorship and training for summer projects and clinical electives with our partner sites.

Summer Experiences/Selectives
Medical students have the opportunity to take part in summer electives with our partner organizations during the summer between the first and second years of medical school.

Clinical Electives
Medical students have the opportunity to organize global health clinical electives in their third and fourth years.

Global Health Seminar
The Global Health Seminar provides an intensive didactic introduction to global health for medical students and residents interested in the field.

Global Health Career Series
The GHC brings field experts in to speak about their experiences and what you should do to plan a career in global/public health.

Scholarly Leave
Medical students may consider taking leave for a year of scholarship for research.
