Weight Management Program
If you have been on a diet roller coaster, Mount Sinai has just the program for you.
You probably know from experience that many diets are in fact dangerous, that many others involve such deprivation that you can not sustain them, and that almost all ultimately leave you gaining the pounds right back—and then some.
The Mount Sinai Weight Management Program, on the other hand, offers a safe, supportive way to help you reach the weight you have been aiming for—and stay there! This time, help is really here.
Weight Loss Under a Doctor’s Care
To be able to manage your weight, the first thing you need is to understand your metabolism. The Program starts with a complete screening by an endocrinology specialist experienced in treating obesity and its associated conditions for many years. You will also have regular medical checkups, blood work, and adjustments of any diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, and other obesity-related medications throughout the Program. All care is provided in collaboration with your primary care physician.
A Healthy, Easy-to-Follow Diet
The first part of the Program is designed to help you lose weight quickly and safely. You will not have to count anything, weigh anything, or even decide anything. All you have to do is follow the recommended menu, with its wide variety of delicious, nutritionally complete shakes and entrees. The Program supplies everything you need.
One of the most important aspects of any weight loss effort is what happens once you have made progress. With our Program, you make a smooth transition from weight loss to weight maintenance. During the weight-maintenance phase, the Program will help you develop the healthy lifestyle skills you need to stay at the weight that is right for you.
Registered dietitians from the Mount Sinai Weight Management Program lead weekly small group sessions that are specially designed to help you apply strategies that balance food and physical activity. Sessions are scheduled after work hours in a convenient and confidential environment.
