Data presented at the Society of Biological Psychiatry Annual Scientific Convention indicated efficacy of a cognitive-emotional training intervention for major depressive disorder. “Conducting this study was significant because this was the second study – after the proof-of-concept trial that was published in 2014 – to demonstrate the clinical efficacy of Emotional Faces Memory Task in reducing symptoms of major depressive disorder (MDD),” said Brian Iacoviello, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “This study could be one way that clinicians become more comfortable considering cognitive-emotional training therapies, and on result may be that these become more accessible to MDD patients.”
