New York Area Workers Cohort Study

The New York Area Workers Cohort Study aims to investigate the impacts of environmental and occupational exposures on health outcomes for workers throughout the Tri-state region.

The New York workforce is incredibly diverse—ranging across sectors such as educational and health services, professional and business services, hospitality, construction, utilities, and many others. Workers in a variety of occupations may encounter chemicals, physical hazards, as well as mental stressors that may cause health problems.

This study will inform and strengthen ongoing investigations related to the health of workers, in particular, ongoing research related to the World Trade Center Health Program.

Eligibility

You may qualify to take part in this research study because you are or have been employed in the greater New York City region. All jobs and industries will help us gather information. You must be at least 18 years old to participate.

If you were a first responder after 9/11, you will not be eligible to participate in this study. However, if you would like to contribute to research, we will be happy to direct you to the World Trade Center Health Program.

Participation

You will complete an online survey every one to two years that gathers information about you, your workplace exposures, and your health.

Benefits

After completing your study questionnaire, you will be entered into a monthly drawing for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card. In addition, you will also be given the option to sign up for educational information about protecting your health in the workplace.
