The 2017 SINAInnovations Careers and Connections was highly interactive and tailored specifically for graduate and medical students, residents, and post-doctoral fellows. This year's program started with a series of breakout sessions and concluded with a networking reception where trainees met professionals from a variety of industries and learned about available resources for entrepreneurs.
Program Schedule 2017
4:00pm - 5:00pm The Future of Personalized Cancer Medicine: Advancements, Access, and Affordability
How is cancer therapy becoming increasingly tailored to the individual patient and why? What are the current innovations being made in the field? What challenges and solutions does personalized cancer medicine present to affordable access and equitable development of therapies? What role can a new generation of physicians and scientists play in tackling these challenges while continuing to innovate and improve cancer survival?
To tackle these questions, we have gathered an extremely cross-disciplinary panel consisting of an internationally recognized health economist, an 18 year veteran of technology transfer, a medical oncologist who co-directs the Dubin Breast Cancer Center, an academic scientist from the Drug Discovery Institute who brings the perspective of over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, and an innovative researcher whose radical approach to personalized cancer therapy is based on creating personalized fruit flies of an individual’s cancer.
