Dr. Liu’s research interests and experiences lie in the area of investigating the distributions and determinants of health outcomes in human population. Her specific research topics include: 1) investigating epidemiological patterns, such as geospatial and disparity patterns of health outcomes, using large-scale population-based databases (e.g. the National Health and Nutrition Examination (NHANES), the Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS), the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program, SEER-Medicare, etc.); and 2) studying the health effects of environmental and occupational exposure to pollutants under normal conditions, as well as in the aftermath of natural or man-made disasters.
