Daniel I. Steinberg, MD, FHM, FACP is Associate Chair for Education and Residency Program Director in the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. He is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Steinberg completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Beth Israel in 2001 and then served a year as a Chief Medical Resident. He has been a practicing hospitalist since 2002.
His academic interests include medical education, professional development of trainees, medical consultation and clinical application of the research literature. He is an Associate Editor of A Textbook for Internal Medicine Education Programs (10th Edition) and of A Textbook for Today’s Chief Medical Resident (19th Edition), both published by the Associate of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. He is the Editor of the text Evidence—Based Medical Consultation (Saunders, 2007), and has written numerous invited commentaries for the American College of Physicians’ ACP-Journal Club publication.
He has served as teaching faculty at national meetings of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) and of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. He has been recognized as a “Gold Doc” by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
Dr. Steinberg serves as President of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine New York Special Interest Group for the 2015-2016 term.
