Dawar Mahmood, MD is a board-certified general surgeon with over 35 years of caring for patients in the Queens community. He received his medical degree from King Edward Medical College, University of Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed a residency in general surgery at the Cabrini Medical Center in New York City.
Dr. Mahmood’s expertise is in cancer surgery and general surgery. He performs a wide range of surgeries involving the abdomen using both traditional and minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques including, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, enterostomy, proctectomy and hernia repairs. He treats patients with various cancers: colon, rectal, stomach, small intestine, and breast cancer.
Dr. Mahmood performs breast biopsies, lymph node biopsies and port placements.
Mount Sinai Queens awarded Dr. Mahmood the coveted Physician of the Year Award in 2004. He participates in the Mount Sinai Queens community outreach program by giving lectures on various topics in general surgery and cancer surgery.
